Bern by Bike

Rode to Bern this afternoon, just over 100km. It was a nice ride, and a nice warm day for January (about 50 deg F) with some spectacular views. But the route I picked had a bit too much traffic for my taste. Will have to do more homework next time and find a less traveled route.

Next Saturday Dedi and I'll be heading out to Bern (likely by train!) to meet up with my good college friends John and Judy who are in Switzerland on ski trip.

Not much else new...Brenna is busy studying for exams and prepping for SAT tests. Aubrey will be going on a week-long school ski (snowboarding) trip next week. With all the snow, we're all thinking of going on a weekend family ski trip....Let's see how the snow holds up.

Cheers, Dave

Sunny January day

The weather has been alternating between cold, windy and wet and sunny. The sunny days are still relatively cold (about 40 deg C) but the contrast makes it feel like summer.

Yesterday was one of the warm days and I got in a nice ride followed by a walk with Aubrey and Dedi (and Tigger and Telly of course!) down to lake. For grins and I carried my GPS on the walk... 6Km out and back...not quite as close as when we lived in St-Sulpice.

The mountains were spectacular and often when I look at them I feel like I'm seeing them for the first time. On our walk home we stopped at our old bakery and picked up bread and pastries. The pastries got consumed on site! It was fun watching the dogs sniff their old stomping grounds. As we passed our old apartment, Telly kept tugging at her leash trying to steer us towards it.

Today's supposed to be a rainy day but so far it's looking okay. Had the most beautiful sunrise as I walked the dogs. The whole sky was a bright pink. Too bad I didn't have my camera.
